Unveiling the Humanizing and Therapeutic Values of Live Music in Healthcare Settings: A Scoping Review

    by Conrado Carrascosa-Lopez, Miriam Serrano-Soliva, María De-Miguel-Molina, Blanca De-Miguel-Molina, Daniel Catala-Perez

Background: Live music, understood as real-time musical performance delivered in the physical presence of patients or other participants, is increasingly incorporated into healthcare settings as an arts-based, non-pharmacological practice intended to support well-being and humanize care. While previous reviews have examined a broad range of music-based interventions in healthcare, limited attention has been given specifically to live music, its contextual characteristics, and the values attributed to its use within hospital environments. Objectives: This scoping review aims to map and synthesize the literature on live music in healthcare settings, focusing on clinical contexts, populations involved, and the therapeutic, psychosocial, and environmental values reported. Methods: A scoping review was conducted following the framework of Arksey and O’Malley. Searches were performed in Web of Science, Scopus and Pubmed using terms related to live music and healthcare settings. Studies published in English or Spanish over the past 20 years were considered. After screening titles, abstracts, and full texts, 81 studies met the inclusion criteria. Results: The studies covered diverse hospital units and patient groups, particularly oncology, neonatal and intensive care, palliative care, and haemodialysis. Reported outcomes were mainly psychological and emotional, including reductions in anxiety, stress, and distress, alongside improvements in mood, well-being, and quality of life. Cognitive, physiological, and environmental benefits were also identified, emphasizing the role of live music in creating supportive and humanized care environments. Most studies were conducted in Europe and North America. Conclusions: Live music is widely implemented in healthcare settings and is associated with benefits extending beyond symptom reduction to experiential and humanizing dimensions of care. This scoping review provides an overview of the existing evidence base and identifies directions for future research in arts and health.

    by Blanca De-Miguel-Molina, María De-Miguel-Molina, Daniel Catalá-Pérez

  • Intelligent Agent, AI Agent and Agentic AI in Medicine: A Thematic Evolution of Literature

by María De-Miguel-Molina, Miguel Ángel Almudéver-Galán, Blanca De-Miguel-Molina

This paper presents a literature review for the evolution of the topics of intelligent agents and agentic AI in Medicine, based on 264 papers from three combined searches in the Web of Science database. The analysis is conducted using the R library Bibliometrix to gain insight into the evolution of the field from 1995 to 2026, divided into three periods: 1998-2008, 2009-2019 and 2020-2026. The review summarises the conceptual structure, the evolution of the relevant themes across the three periods, and the main ideas from the most cited papers. Results indicate the projection of topics across different periods: the keyword intelligent agent in the first and second periods, and agentic AI in the third. The main differences among the three periods include levels of autonomy, scope of application, the technical focus, and ethical concerns.

  • Leadership Drivers and Vision Alignment for Green Transformation in the EU Chemical Industry

    by Blanca De-Miguel-Molina, Pedro Hernandez-Esteve, Beatriz Garcia-Ortega, Javier Galan-Cubillo

The EU chemical industry faces increasing pressure to align competitiveness with sustainability under a dense and expanding regulatory framework. At the same time, strategic transformation processes frequently fail, making implementation and leadership alignment critical challenges. This paper develops a conceptual framework to support green transformation in the EU chemical industry through a qualitative literature review from a business management perspective. The framework contributes in two ways: first by identifying key managerial conditions associated with successful transformation implementation; and second, by classifying leadership orientations according to internal and external drivers that shape sustainability ambition, vision and strategic alignment. The proposed framework helps decision-makers define a realistic transformation vision consistent with leadership motivations and implementation requirements, while also supporting boards and investors in assessing leadership fit with the intended sustainability ambition of the firm.

    by Blanca De-Miguel-Molina, Pedro Hernandez-Esteve, Beatriz Garcia-Ortega, Javier Galan-Cubillo

A conceptual holistic framework for green transformation management is derived from factors extracted from a systematic literature review. The framework bridges academic research and business to help decision-makers start a strategic reflection for sustainability integration in the EU chemical industries.

  • Business Development as an Orchestrator of Strategy Implementation: A Systematic Literature Review

by Barbara Hedderich, Denise Müller, Blanca De-Miguel-Molina

Strategic Marketing connects market opportunities with corporate objectives, yet firms often struggle to translate strategic intent into coordinated implementation. Cross-functional tensions and weak links between strategy formulation and implementation create a persistent implementation gap. This study examines Business Development (BD) as a mechanism for aligning strategy with execution and enabling market-facing implementation. Based on a two-stage systematic literature review, Stage 1 identifies implementation-related gaps in Strategic Marketing, while Stage 2 synthesizes the BD literature as a response. The review conceptualizes BD as an orchestration function linking market sensing, resource mobilization, cross-functional coordination, and commercialization to support market-oriented strategy implementation.

by María De Miguel Molina, Daniel Catalá Pérez, Marival Segarra Oña, Angel Peiró Signes
