Regulation on tribological performance of tungsten-doped DLC coatings by choline chloride-urea and-thiourea deep eutectic solvents
Solid-liquid composite lubrication system has attracted an increased interest for low friction and wear. Nevertheless, the effect of mechanical and surface properties of the solid materials, especially the mechanical and surface properties governed by doping elements, on the tribological performance solid-liquid composite lubrication system is still not well comprehended. Here, we reported the effect of W content on the mechanical and surface properties of W-DLC coatings as well as the tribological properties of W-DLC coatings under (choline chloride-urea and choline chloride-thiourea) deep eutectic solvents lubrication. Although the wear of W-DLC coatings under dry friction increases with W content, the wear under DESs is slight when coatings show excellent wettability to DESs or a DES-derived tribochemical film is formed. We demonstrate that the tribological behavior of W-DLC and DESs composite lubrication system is related to the mechanical properties of W-DLC coatings together with the contact angle and tribochemical interaction between DESs and W-DLC coatings.

Impact-sliding wear response of 2.25Cr1Mo steel tubes: Experimental and semi-analytical method
The impact-sliding wear behavior of steam generator tubes in nuclear power plants is complex owing to the dynamic nature of the mechanical response and self-induced tribological changes. In this study, the effects of impact and sliding velocity on the impact-sliding wear behavior of a 2.25Cr1Mo steel tube are investigated experimentally and numerically. In the experimental study, a wear test rig that can measure changes in the impact and friction forces as well as the compressive displacement over different wear cycles, both in real time, is designed. A semi-analytical model based on the Archard wear law and Hertz contact theory is used to predict wear. The results indicate that the impact dynamic effect by the impact velocity is more significant than that of the sliding velocity, and that both velocities affect the friction force and wear degree. The experimental results for the wear depth evolution agree well with the corresponding simulation predictions.

Improving the lubrication and anti-corrosion performance of polyurea grease via ingredient optimization
Thickener formulation plays a significant role in the performance characteristics of grease. The polyurea greases (PUGs) were synthesized using mineral oil (500SN) as the base oil, and by regulating the reaction of diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI) and different organic amines. The as-prepared PUGs from the reaction of MDI and cyclohexylamine/p-toluidine exhibit the optimum physicochemical and friction-wear properties, confirming that the regulation of thickener formulation can improve the performance characteristics of grease, including friction reduction, wear, corrosion resistance, and load-carrying capacity. The anti-corrosion and lubrication properties of as-prepared PUGs depend on good sealing functions and a boundary lubrication film (synergy of grease-film and tribo-chemical reaction film), as well as their chemical components and structure.

Improving the Dynamic Mechanical Properties of XNBR Using ILs/KH550-Functionalized Multilayer Graphene
Graphene has been considered an ideal nanoscale reinforced phase for preparing high-performance composites, but the poor compatibility and weak interfacial interaction with the matrix have limited its application. Here a highly effective and environmentally friendly method for the functionalization of graphene is proposed through an interaction between as-exfoliated graphene and (3-aminopropyl) triethoxysilane (KH550), in which 1-butylsulfonate-3-methylimidazolium bisulfate (BSO3HMIm)(HSO4) ionic-liquids-modified graphene was prepared via an electrochemical exfoliation of graphite in (BSO3HMIm)(HSO4) solution, then (BSO3HMIm)(HSO4)-modified graphene as a precursor was reacted with amine groups of KH550 for obtaining (BSO3HMIm)(HSO4)/KH550-functionalized graphene. The final products as filler into carboxylated acrylonitrile‒butadiene rubber (XNBR) improve the dynamic mechanical properties. The improvement in the dynamic mechanical properties of the nanocomposite mainly depends on high interfacial interaction and graphene’s performance characteristics, as well as a good dispersion between functionalized graphene and the XNBR matrix.
