Improvements on Efficient Controlled Semi‐Quantum Secret Sharing With Entangled States
Semi‐quantum secret sharing represents a significant area in quantum cryptography, offering the advantage of not requiring all participants to be fully quantum‐capable. Recently, Houshmand et al. (Opt. Quant. Electron. 2024, 56(5), 759) proposed a controlled semi‐quantum secret sharing protocol based on entangled states and claimed it was secure. However, the results of our analysis indicate that its security check is flawed and that the secret can be recovered if collaborates with any single other classical user. Accordingly, we propose an improved protocol that rectifies the flaws and resists not only the aforementioned attack, but also attacks initiated by up to dishonest users. In addition, our analysis of an existing denial‐of‐service attack shows that this attack cannot induce classical users to recover incorrect secrets. Consequently, no security check is necessary for this attack.

Hybrid quantum neural network structures for image multi-classification
Image classification is a fundamental problem in computer vision, and neural networks provide an effective solution. With the advancement of quantum technology, quantum neural networks have attracted a lot of attention. However, they are only suitable for low-dimensional data and require dimensionality reduction and quantum encoding. Two image classification methods have recently emerged: one employs PCA for dimensionality reduction and angular encoding, and the other integrates QNN into a CNN to improve performance. Despite numerous algorithms, the differences between them remain unclear. This study explores these algorithms’ performance in multi-class image classification and proposes an optimized hybrid quantum neural network suitable for the current environment. As the number of classes increases, research on PCA-based quantum algorithms reveals the barren plateau problem of QNN, which is not suitable for multiple classes in a hybrid setting. Our proposed model combining traditional CNN with QNN addresses QNN’s multi-class training difficulties to some extent and achieves satisfactory classification results. Nevertheless, its accuracy remains below that of the top-performing CNN models. Furthermore, we investigate transfer learning in hybrid quantum neural network models and assess the performance of our models on the quantum hardware from IBM. In conclusion, quantum neural networks show promise but require further research and optimization, facing challenges ahead.

Verifiable multi-party quantum secret sharing based on GHZ states
In this paper, we propose a verifiable multi-party secret sharing protocol based on an entanglement swapping theorem of GHZ states. In our protocol, all receivers only need to perform simple GHZ measurements to recover the secret. The quantum-safe system proposed in this paper is feasible with current quantum technologies, and we show that it is secure against both external and internal attacks. In addition, the secret sender can verify whether the secret is correctly recovered.

Improvements on "Multi-Party Quantum Summation without a Third Party based on $d$-Dimensional Bell States"
In 2021, Wu et al. presented a multi-party quantum summation scheme exploiting the entanglement properties of d-dimensional Bell states (Wu et al. in Quantum Inf Process 20:200, 2021). In particular, the authors proposed a three-party quantum summation protocol and then extended their work to a multi-party case. It is claimed that their protocol is secure against outside and participants' attacks. However, this work points out that Wu's protocol has a loophole, i.e., two or more dishonest participants who meet a specific location relationship can conspire to obtain the private inputs of some honest participants without being detected. Accordingly, improvements are proposed to address these issues.
