A Smart Airport Mobile Application Concept and Possibilities of Its Use for Predictive Modeling and Analysis

by Martin Baláž, Kristína Kováčiková, Juraj Vaculík, Martina Kováčiková

The goal of this paper is to propose a smart airport solution, which is customer-oriented and suitable for an airport at the beginning of the process of digitization. Such a solution is represented by a mobile application, which allows the airport to provide its customers with basic information faster, more efficiently, in a simpler manner, and without the need for face-to-face interaction. The data collected through a smart airport mobile application can be used in conjunction with other technologies or systems for predictive modeling and analysis. The main benefit of the paper is the primary research aimed at the identification of customer requirements for a specific airport from the perspective of services and functions that the mobile application should offer. Subsequently, based on the analysis, a proposal for an airport application for mobile devices is developed through UX and UI design. The design consists of six successive phases and results in the development of an interactive prototype of the required mobile application. In addition, the paper discusses how the data collected through a smart airport mobile application can potentially be used in conjunction with other technologies or systems for predictive modeling and analysis.

Vplyv pandémie na kvalitu služieb poskytovaných na letisku

by University of Žilina, Kristína Kováčiková, Martin Baláž, Martina Kováčiková, Juraj Vaculík

To keep pace with the rapid evolution of airports, it is essential to integrate multiple systems and smart solutions within the airport. However, the integration of such technology requires significant time, patience, and financial investment. The focus of this paper is on the quality of airport services in the aftermath of the pandemic. The pandemic has provided an opportunity for many airports to adopt smart technologies and solutions, which promote safety and provide passengers with a seamless, contactless experience. The objective of this study is to evaluate the current state of airport services following the pandemic by conducting primary research among airport passengers.

Methodology of Creating and Sustainable Applying of Stereoscopic Recording in the Industrial Engineering Sector

by Martin Gašo, Martin Krajčovič, Ľuboslav Dulina, Patrik Grznár, Juraj Vaculík

This article introduces an innovative view on the issue of Stereoscopy’s application as a tool of advanced industrial engineering. Basic starting points of research have been the results of stereoscopy applications in other science areas and entertainment industries, e.g., movies. These bases provide information about basic principles of stereoscopic record creation. However, these bases’ pieces of information were to be adapted and applied in the field of industrial engineering. The core of the article describes the methodology for creating a stereoscopic recording in industrial engineering. The emphasis aimed to use stereoscopic in industrial engineering as a tool for optimization of the workplace, which makes them sustainable for a long time. The output of the article is a tool for industrial engineering which prevents job rotation caused by wear of body parts. Also as a result of optimization, we achieve a saving of capital. The article describes the proposed procedure for creating a stereoscopic record from the basic selection of suitable technical equipment to a detailed calculation of the camera system parameters setting. The final part of the article is devoted to the practical verification of the proposed stereoscopic record procedure and also the verification of the possibilities of its use in the field of industrial engineering. An area of ergonomics has been selected for the pilot verification. The verification confirmed the accuracy of the calculation, i.e., usability of the proposed stereoscopic record procedure. Identified also was a potential for its use as an innovative tool for advanced industrial engineering. The crux of the methodology presented is protected by the utility model number 7683.

Parameter Setting for a Genetic Algorithm Layout Planner as a Toll of Sustainable Manufacturing

by Martin Krajčovič, Viktor Hančinský, Ľuboslav Dulina, Patrik Grznár, Martin Gašo, Juraj Vaculík

The long-term sustainability of the enterprise requires constant attention to the continuous improvement of business processes and systems so that the enterprise is still competitive in a dynamic and turbulent market environment. Improvement of processes must lead to the ability of the enterprise to increase production performance, the quality of provided services on a constantly increasing level of productivity and decreasing level of cost. One of the most important potentials for sustainability competitiveness of an enterprise is the continuous restructuring of production and logistics systems to continuously optimize material flows in the enterprise in terms of the changing requirements of customers and the behavior of enterprise system surroundings. Increasing pressure has been applied to projecting manufacturing and logistics systems due to labor intensity, time consumption, and costs for the whole technological projecting process. Moreover, it is also due to quality growth, complexity, and information ability of outputs generated from this process. One option is the use of evolution algorithms for space solution optimization for manufacturing and logistics systems. This method has higher quality results compared to classical heuristic methods. The advantage is the ability to leave specific local extremes. Classical heuristics are unable to do so. Genetic algorithms belong to this group. This article presents a unique genetic algorithm layout planner (GALP) that uses a genetic algorithm to optimize the spatial arrangement. In the first part of this article, there is a description of a framework of the current state of layout planning and genetic algorithms used in manufacturing and logistics system design, methods for layout design, and basic characteristics of genetic algorithms. The second part of the article introduces its own GALP algorithm. It is a structure which is integrated into the design process of manufacturing systems. The core of the article are parameters setting and experimental verification of the proposed algorithm. The final part of the article is a discussion about the results of the GALP application.

ADAPTIVE TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE BLIND AND VISUAL IMPAIRED PERSONS IN THE TRAFFIC NETWORK

by Marko Periša, Dragan Peraković, Juraj Vaculík

The information about the environment and the precise guidance of visually impaired people is the basis for their safe movement of the traffic network. Therefore, the information and communication services should be adapted to this group of users. The services based on the advanced information and communication technologies provide the visually impaired persons with information about the environment while moving along the traffic network. This paper analyses the currently available information systems of users when moving traffic network, and the currently most services based on new ICT (Information and Communications Technology). The analysis was carried on a representative sample of the City of Zagreb (Croatia) in involving all interest groups of visually impaired people. Based on defined user requirements is proposed a new services based on NFC (Near Field Communication) and RTLS (Real-Time Locating Systems). Testing and analysing the efficiency of single information and communication technologies have been performed on the actual traffic network system of the City of Zagreb. The users of the Croatian Society for Promotion and Development of Tiphlotechnology (Hrvatska Udruga za Promicanje i Razvoj Tiflotehnike – HUPRT, http://www.huprt.hr) participated in checking the efficiency of single technologies and services.
