    Értékek és örökség Hollókőn

    by Csaba Bálint

by József Lennert, Bálint Koós, Csaba Bálint, Eszter Hamza, Gábor Király, Katalin Kovács, Katalin Rácz, Monika Mária Váradi

Estimation of short-term and medium-term survival from sudden cardiac death based on the initial rhythm

by Mercedes Ahmann, Csaba Bálint, Attila Kónyi

Introduction: Sudden cardiac death (SCD) is a clinical syndrome defined as: sudden, premature, natural death from cardiogenic causes in a cardiac patient or a person without known cardiac disease, preceded by sudden loss of consciousness and occurring within one hour of the onset of acute symptoms. (3). According to published literature, the incidence of sudden cardiac death ranges widely (15-48%), depending on geographical and demographic indicators. Objective: The aim of our study was to investigate short-term and medium-term survival after resuscitation in patients with sudden cardiac death. Methods: data from patients in two groups of sudden cardiac death were compared at hospital discharge and at 1 and 3 months after hospital discharge. We compared data from 92 patients who suffered a SCD between 1 January 2016 and 31 December 2017. Data from patients who had a proven shockable (I) or non-shockable (II) incipient rhythm following SCD were included. The main endpoint was the comparison of mortality between the two groups. For statistical analysis, we used a T-test and ANOVA to compare the data. Our exclusion criteria included inaccurate documentation and uncertain rhythm. Results: 62% of patients in the shock group had a significantly higher survival at all three observed time points than in the non-shock group. Conclusion: In our study population, the hypothesis that patients with a shockable rhythm in SCD have significantly better survival than those without shockable rhythm was confirmed by several studies. Our patients had significantly higher survival both at hospital discharge and at day 30 survival.

  • Pillanatkép a háziorvosi és házi gyermekorvosi alapellátás járási szintű területi egyenlőtlenségeiről a koronavírus-járvány előtti időszakból

    by Csaba Bálint

Development of the Agricultural Innovation Brokerage Concept in Eastern European Countries, Based on a Hungarian Situation Analysis

by Apolka Ujj, Csaba Bálint, Pál Goda, Paulina Jancsovszka, And, Kennedy Mutua

The Agro-innovation Broker (AIB) concept was introduced by the European Commission solely to increase the vast spread of innovative solutions in Agriculture. The concept can be perceived as an intermediary between the demand and supply of agricultural research and extension services. This paper’s results are derived from the international research work that aims to develop a training curriculum in the field of agricultural innovation services with effective materials to boost capacity building actions in Central and Eastern European Countries (CEE). Based on consultations with stakeholders, the Hungarian situation analysis allowed comparison with other CEE countries and the expansion of an AIB vocational training curriculum. It helps to better understand the needs of agricultural innovation services through a clear view of advisors’ competences. Our results suggest that apart from the similar knowledge requirements and skills of AIBs across CEE countries, country-specific expectations and needs should be addressed in AIB training.

The Capacities of Primary Health Care in Hungary: A Problem Statement

    by Csaba Bálint

In the establishment, development, and provision of equal access to the health care system, the operation of adequate primary health care is essential and has undergone significant transformation in the most developed countries over the past decades. The central and eastern European countries, including Hungary, are struggling with the disadvantages of the traditional model of primary health care, based on independent general practitioner and family paediatrician practices: the ability of the system is extremely limited to meet emerging needs and is facing a chronic human resource crisis. In the current study, the functions, legislation, and challenges of the Hungarian primary health care system, as well as the basic interrelations of the development of vacant general practitioner and family paediatrician districts were examined, and the government measures for the sake of solving the occurrence of the vacancy and improving access in the lagging areas. (The situation of the other fields of primary health care—e.g., dental care, child care officer care, etc.—was not subject of the analysis.). The basic characteristics of the vacant districts (type by supplied age group, bounding region, population size, length of vacancy) were primarily examined by the analysis of categorical and metric variables, with the use of cross-tabulation and nonparametric correlation, while the discovery of soft interrelations was supported by an expert interview conducted with the professionals of the Primary Health Care Department of the National Health Care Services Centre. In Hungary, the fundamentals of primary health care are made up of the individual practices of general practitioners and paediatricians, and there is a growing concern about the permanent vacancy of the districts, and the fact that the system is less suitable for meeting the needs of the population. The ever-increasing number of vacant general practitioner and family paediatrician districts due to the growing shortage of professionals because of aging and emigration poses the burden of substitution on the physicians in existing practices, that concerns the access of more than a half million people to health care, almost 70 percent of which live in settlements with a population less than 5000 inhabitants.
