Assessment of dentists’ awareness and attitudes regarding infectious diseases in clinical practice: A survey study
This cross-sectional questionnaire-based study aimed to evaluate awareness, perceptions, and infection control practices regarding blood- and saliva-borne infections among dental professionals and to identify factors associated with adequate personal protective equipment (PPE) use. A total of 208 dental professionals working in oral and dental health centers, university hospitals, private polyclinics, and private practices were included. Data were collected using a 17-item online questionnaire assessing demographic characteristics, perceived knowledge of infections, sterilization and disinfection practices, PPE use, occupational exposure history, and post-exposure health-seeking behavior. Categorical variables were analyzed using Pearson Chi-square or Fisher’s exact tests, and independent predictors of adequate PPE use were evaluated using binary logistic regression analysis with the backward Wald method. Overall, 83.2% of participants reported sufficient knowledge regarding blood- and saliva-borne infections, whereas only 63.9% reported adequate PPE use during treatment. Perceived knowledge level was significantly associated with professional experience, adequacy of infection-related anamnesis, and PPE use. In logistic regression analysis, perceived sufficient knowledge was the strongest independent predictor of adequate PPE use. Female gender and the 31–40 and 41–50 age groups were also associated with adequate PPE use. In addition, 70.2% of participants reported occupational exposure history, while only 45.2% consistently sought post-exposure health evaluation. Although infection-related awareness among dental professionals was generally high, deficiencies persisted in PPE adherence and post-exposure management. Continuous professional training, institutional supervision, standardized infection control protocols, and structured post-exposure management systems should be strengthened.

Do Concentration or Photo-Activation Change Effect of Hydrogen Peroxide And Boric Acid On E.Faecalis Biofilm
Background: To evaluate the effects of hydrogen peroxide(H2O2) and boric-acid(BA) on E. faecalis biofilm with or without photo-activation by Germinator (Design for Vision, USA). Materials: Biofilm formation was provided on sterilized dentin discs. Five groups were created(n=8): 1.5%, 3% and 5% H2O2; 5 and 10% BA. Each was exposed to irrigation-solutions with or without photo-activation. ‘Biofilm killing-percentage’ (100%), (CFU/ml) was calculated, colony-counting was performed. One-way analysis of variance, Duncan, Tukey's tests were provided. Results: All irrigants reduced number of viable-bacteria in biofilm (p

Performance of artificial intelligence chatbots in the diagnosis and management of simulated dental trauma cases: an evaluation based on IADT guidelines
Aim This study aims to comparatively evaluate the performance of four different artificial intelligence-based chatbots (ChatGPT-4o (Free), ChatGPT-5 (Plus), DeepSeek, and Google Gemini) in the diagnosis and treatment processes of dental trauma cases. Material and methods Based on the International Association of Dental Traumatology (IADT) guidelines, eleven fictional cases were developed, each representing different diagnostic possibilities of dental trauma. The cases cenarios were based on a standardized dataset including clinical examination, radiographic findings, and pulp sensitivity tests. All AI models were tested for three days for each case. Two researchers analyzed the responses using ablinding method according to five evaluation criteria (diagnostic accuracy, treatment plan appropriateness, splinting duration accuracy, antibiotic indication, and reference accuracy). Results According to the results, while no significant difference was found in terms of diagnostic accuracy (p > 0.05), Google Gemini showed the highest performance with 100% accuracy. ChatGPT-4o (Free) stood out with a 97% accuracy rate in antibiotic indication, while in splinting duration prediction, ChatGPT-5 (Plus) was the most successful model with 75.8%. DeepSeek exhibited the highest variability (p < 0.05). Conclusions The findings show that AI chatbots have promising potential as complementary tools in dental trauma diagnosis, but evidence-based validation, expert supervision, and methodological standards are needed for safe use in clinical practice.

Biomechanical and Bio-Inspired Perspectives on Root Amputation in Maxillary Molars: An FEA Study
This study aimed to evaluate the biomechanics of maxillary first molar teeth following palatal, disto-buccal, and mesio-buccal root amputation. An intact maxillary molar underwent root canal treatment using Reciproc R25 files (VDW, Munich, Germany). The canals were obturated with gutta-percha (DiaDent, Seoul, Republic of Korea) and 2Seal sealer (VDW, Munich, Germany), and the access cavity was restored with composite resin. A high-resolution CBCT scan of an intact maxillary first molar was obtained using a Planmeca Promax 3D Max system (Planmeca Oy, Helsinki, Finland) at 75 kVp and 10 mA. The acquired data were processed in 3D Slicer software (v5.8.0, BSD license, Boston, MA, USA) to segment enamel, dentin, and pulp based on pixel density variations using the three-point cloud method. A baseline intact model and three root-resected models (palatal, disto-buccal, mesio-buccal) were reconstructed in SolidWorks 2021, with resected roots simulated as being sealed with MTA. Finite element analysis was conducted in CosmosWorks to evaluate von Mises stress distribution under a 300 N static occlusal load. Maximum von Mises stresses were detected at occlusal force application sites. Among root dentin tissues, stress values ranked highest after palatal root resection, followed by the mesio-buccal, disto-buccal, and non-resected models. Conclusions: Palatal root amputation of maxillary first molars generated the highest von Mises stresses in root dentin, suggesting a higher biomechanical risk than disto-buccal or mesio-buccal resections.

Evaluation of the Content Quality of YouTube Videos Related to Endocrown
Aim: The purpose of this study was to evaluate and validate the popularity, content, reliability, and educational contribution of endocrown-related YouTube videos. Material and Methods: Two researchers systematically searched about endocrown on YouTube on April 10, 2023, by using the term “endocrown”. The top 250 of the search results were later added to the watchlist. Finally, 30 videos were included for analysis. Time since upload, duration, number of views, likes, number of subscriptions, number of views were recorded. The DISCERN instrument, the benchmarks established by the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), and Global Quality Scores (GQS) were used to evaluate these 30 videos. Assumptions were checked and Kruskal Wallis tests were used to examine the differences between the averages of video features according to GQS and DISCERN scores. Results: According to the results of the analysis, a statistically significant difference was found between the averages of video features according to GQS groups and DISCERN scores (p<0.05). As a result of the analysis, a statistically significant difference was found between the video duration averages according to the JAMA scores (p<0.05). Kendal's Tau correlations were applied to examine the relationships between YouTube features and GQS, DISCERN, and JAMA scores. As a result of the analysis statistically significant relationships were found between time and GQS, DISCERN, and JAMA scores Conclusions: Despite the limited number of related videos, YouTube has shown similarity in the reliability and quality of videos on the topic of endocrown. As the duration of the videos increased, their reliability increased.
