A Safe and Portable CMUT Array Ultrasonic System for Bubble Sizing in Industrial Silicone Sealing Rings
To address the need for bubble detection in industrial silicone sealing rings, this paper presents a compact non-invasive ultrasonic monitoring system based on a capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducer (CMUT) array, aiming to overcome the limitations of conventional X-ray inspection in terms of safety, portability, and real-time in situ monitoring. The system comprises two 8.8 mm × 8.8 mm CMUT arrays with associated transmitting and receiving circuitry. The silicone thickness is determined using the time-of-flight (TOF) method, while bubble size is quantitatively estimated by combining received signal amplitude analysis, which characterizes bubble-induced attenuation, with correlation function evaluation. Experimental measurements on industrial-grade silicone samples and finite element simulations demonstrate that the system achieves a spatial resolution of 0.5 mm and effectively captures attenuation variations caused by bubbles. The integrated strategy of TOF, amplitude analysis, and correlation assessment ensures reliable non-destructive evaluation. Compared with X-ray inspection, the proposed system is safer, more portable, and suitable for real-time on-site monitoring, thereby significantly improving quality control efficiency in silicone manufacturing. This study provides a novel CMUT-array-based solution for quantitative bubble detection in silicone media, offering both high resolution and practical application potential.

High-Precision Salt Concentration Detection Using a CMUT Array with Temperature Compensation
This paper presents a miniaturized and highly accurate saltwater concentration monitoring system based on Capacitive Micromachined Ultrasonic Transducer (CMUT) array technology. The system incorporates a highly integrated CMUT array with a compact footprint of 5 mm × 5 mm, capable of both transmitting and receiving ultrasonic signals, which significantly contributes to the system’s miniaturization and portability. To ensure accurate compensation for temperature-dependent variations in sound velocity, a TA610A temperature sensor is integrated for continuous real-time monitoring of the salt solution temperature. By acquiring ultrasonic echo signals, the system calculates the time-of-flight (TOF) of the acoustic waves. Based on the TOF and real-time temperature data, the sound velocity is determined, and the salt concentration is subsequently derived with temperature compensation applied to enhance measurement accuracy. Experimental results show a measurement precision of 0.1% and a maximum absolute error of 0.02%, confirming the system’s high accuracy and robustness. Combining stability, reliability, and a compact real-time sensing design, the proposed CMUT-based system holds significant promise for practical deployment in various industrial and environmental monitoring scenarios.

Development of a 1 × 512 Ring Transducer Array-Based 3D Ultrasound Imaging System for Accurate Breast Lesion Detection: Phantom and Preliminary Clinical Feasibility Study
The work presents an algorithm for early detection of breast microlesions using a high resolution three-dimensional ultrasound imaging system. The system employs a 1 × 512 ring transducer array and a triaxial displacement platform with an accuracy of 0.1 mm, achieving high-density acquisition of three-dimensional volumetric data through fixed-step scanning. To improve imaging quality, an adaptive beamforming algorithm incorporating optimal sound speed estimation is proposed, effectively compensating for phase distortion caused by sound speed heterogeneity within tissues and improving spatial coherence and imaging resolution. The three-dimensional volumetric data is visualized using volume rendering to achieve high-fidelity three-dimensional ultrasound image reconstruction. The in vitro experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm improves the system’s spatial resolution to 0.5 mm, with a linear measurement accuracy of 2.1%. A preliminary clinical feasibility case study comparing breast image reconstruction with MRI imaging results shows a Dice similarity coefficient of 0.87 for the lesion region, high anatomical structure reconstruction accuracy, and good spatial consistency. These results demonstrate preliminary clinical feasibility for early detection of breast microlesions.

A novel real-time acetic acid concentration detection system based on capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducers
This paper presents a novel ultrasonic acetic acid concentration detection system based on capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducers (CMUTs). The system utilizes CMUTs as the core sensing components to perform both signal transmission and reception. A temperature sensor is integrated to continuously monitor temperature variations in the test liquid, thereby ensuring measurement accuracy. Under the temperature compensation mechanism, the system continuously analyzes the acquired signals to accurately determine the ultrasonic time-of-flight and propagation velocity in the liquid. A quantitative model correlating sound velocity with temperature and acetic acid concentration was established and experimentally validated, demonstrating excellent stability and high sensitivity. The system achieves a measurement accuracy of 0.35% and a resolution of 0.1%. Benefiting from the miniaturized design of CMUTs, the system can be developed into a compact probe, offering an efficient and convenient solution for real-time acetic acid concentration monitoring during vinegar production and distribution.
