Knowledge Management in Serbian SMEs: Key Factors of Influence on Internal and External Business Performances
This study investigates the pivotal role of knowledge management (KM) in Serbian small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), highlighting its impact on both the internal dynamics and external business performance of a company. Addressing the unique socio-economic and cultural context of the Serbian business environment, this research study explores how effectively KM practices can streamline business processes, enhance decision making, and foster more significant outputs. This study includes a sample of 370 companies, conducted during the period of the initial 6 months of 2023, by measuring the influence of knowledge management factors within the process of generating revenue and on decreasing operating costs. Drawing on previous theoretical research provided by different experts, followed by a quantitative analysis performed through principal component analysis (PCA), this study identifies critical factors of influence for KM adoption and exploitation in Serbian SMEs. This study offers insights into the interplay between knowledge acquisition, formation, application, warehousing, and knowledge transfer. Findings suggest that from an external perspective, the process capabilities of a company for acquiring and formatting knowledge have a positive influence on business performance, while the technological capabilities of a company for knowledge warehousing, sharing, and formatting produce the same effect but from an internal business perspective.

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS AND THEIR ATTITUDES TOWARD COURSE DESIGN - A CORRELATION ANALYSIS
Besides the distance learning has existed for a long time, for the great number of Higher Education Institutions it was the ‘’consequence’’ of Covid-19 pandemic. This was case of HE Sector in Serbia. In some earlier research, the authors of this paper considered students’ performance and their attitudes toward distance learning, separately. The main idea of this study is to investigate the correlation between student attitudes toward distance education and their achievements. The sample included students of The Academy of Applied Technical Studies Belgrade – Department of Belgrade Polytechnic, who attended different year of the same study programme. Students` achievements were measured through GPA and average efficiency within courses of the first, second and third years of study programme. In this research, two instruments were used – questionnaire and data related to students` scores. Research methods included descriptive statistics and correlation analysis. The obtained results could be useful for present and future research, improvements of educational process, instructors and stakeholders from this area.

FIRST YEAR STUDENT ATTITUDES TOWARD DISTANCE LEARNING
Over the last two years, since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Serbia worked in the modality of distance learning – instructions and students` assignments were performed by distance, while colloquia and exams were realized in traditional conditions. Regardless of modality, HEIs have to ensure high-quality education in every single course. In this sense, the feedback from students is very important. The purpose of this study is to investigate students` attitudes about four dimensions of distance learning – fulfilment of preconditions, organization and realization of instructions, advantages/disadvantages of distance learning, communication and social interactions. Data was collected from 183 first-year students within three courses at The Academy of Applied Technical Studies Belgrade, and was processed in the SPSS software package. The research strategy included descriptive statistics, while the Likert scale was used to assess the satisfaction of the respondents. Analysis of variance and independent-sample t test were used to examine differences in opinions among different groups of respondents. The results of this study could be important for instructors, HEIs that operate in similar conditions, policymakers in the field of HE in Serbia, as well as for present and future research in this area.
